To adjust the opening height of the trunk, open the trunk and manually lower or raise the hatch to the desired height. Then, hold the button on the bottom of the hatch for three seconds until a confirmation signal sounds. Confirm the set height by closing and reopening the hatch.

There are several ways to open the rear trunk. You can either touch the corresponding Open button on the touchscreen, double-click the key's rear trunk button, press the relevant button in the mobile app, or operate the switch under the external handle of the hatch, provided a valid key is detected.
However, before opening the trunk in enclosed spaces such as a garage, make sure the trunk opening height is set so that it cannot touch a low ceiling or objects. This is for your safety and the protection of your vehicle.
Your Model Y must be unlocked or have a recognized key before you can open the hatch with the switch. The touchscreen and mobile app will indicate if a door or trunk is open. A notification light on the touchscreen will signal that the doors are open.
If you need to interrupt the movement of the hatch, you can do so by clicking once on the key's rear trunk button. By subsequently double-clicking the key's rear trunk button, the hatch will resume movement in the opposite direction, unless it was fully opened or closed.
It is important to check the surrounding area before opening or closing the hatch to ensure that no people or objects are in danger. Ignoring this precaution can lead to damage or injury.
There is a low-voltage socket in the rear trunk on the left side that can be used for various purposes.
To close the hatch, you can:
- Either touch the Close button on the touchscreen
- Or double-click the key's rear trunk button
- Or press the switch on the bottom of the hatch
If the hatch encounters an obstacle while closing, it will automatically stop and emit two beep sounds. Remove the obstacle and try closing the hatch again.
