Ingredients:
- 400g firm tofu
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 onion
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp peanut oil
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp sambal oelek
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- Salt
- 8 wooden skewers
- 1 bunch spring onions
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
Preparation:
For the marinade, peel and finely chop the garlic and onion. Mix together with soy sauce, peanut oil, maple syrup, lemon juice, sambal oelek, turmeric, cumin, paprika powder, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
Drain the tofu, pat dry, and cut into strips about 2 cm thick. Place the tofu strips in the marinade and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
In the meantime, soak the wooden skewers in water. Wash the spring onions and cut into pieces about 4 cm long.
Thread the marinated tofu strips alternately with the spring onions onto the wooden skewers. Make sure to let the skewers drain well to prevent excessive dripping.
Heat a grill pan over high heat and grill the skewers for about 4-5 minutes on each side until the tofu is nicely crispy.
In the meantime, toast the sesame seeds in a pan without oil until golden brown.
Sprinkle the grilled tofu satay skewers with sesame seeds and serve with rice or a salad.
These tofu satay skewers are vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free.
