Traditional Hungarian paprika chicken
- 500 g chicken meat
- 2 onions
- 2 red bell peppers
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp paprika powder
- 500 ml chicken broth
- 200 ml cream (optional)
- salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
- Cut the chicken meat into bite-sized pieces.
- Cut the onions and bell peppers into strips.
- In a large pot, brown the chicken meat with some oil until lightly browned.
- Add the onions and sauté until translucent.
- Press the garlic and add it to the meat along with the paprika powder. Mix well.
- Add the bell pepper strips and sauté briefly.
- Deglaze with the chicken broth and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat, cover, and let the paprika chicken simmer for about 30 minutes until the meat is tender.
- Add cream if desired, and heat briefly. Season with salt and pepper.
