Traditional Hungarian paprika chicken

Traditional Hungarian paprika chicken.
  • 500 g chicken meat
  • 2 onions
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp paprika powder
  • 500 ml chicken broth
  • 200 ml cream (optional)
  • salt and pepper to taste


Preparation:

  1. Cut the chicken meat into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Cut the onions and bell peppers into strips.
  3. In a large pot, brown the chicken meat with some oil until lightly browned.
  4. Add the onions and sauté until translucent.
  5. Press the garlic and add it to the meat along with the paprika powder. Mix well.
  6. Add the bell pepper strips and sauté briefly.
  7. Deglaze with the chicken broth and bring to a boil.
  8. Reduce the heat, cover, and let the paprika chicken simmer for about 30 minutes until the meat is tender.
  9. Add cream if desired, and heat briefly. Season with salt and pepper.
