Parkinson's disease
Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that occurs due to a lack of dopamine in the brain. The symptoms include:
- Tremor (shaking) at rest
- Bradykinesia (slowed movements)
- Muscle stiffness
- Difficulty with balance
- Loss of natural arm swing
The symptoms can also include non-motor problems such as depression, sleep disturbances, and cognitive impairments.
Neurological disorder
Parkinson's disease is characterized by a typical loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. This leads to the characteristic motor and non-motor symptoms.
Treatment options for Parkinson's include medication therapies, deep brain stimulation, physiotherapy, and speech therapy.
